RD = Rifle Division
MntD = Mountain Division
MtD = Motorized Division
Tank = Tank brigade (when just "Tank")
RR = Rifle Regiment
AR = Artillery Regiment
LAR = Light Artillery Regiment
HR = Howitzer Regiment
MntIR = Mountain Infantry Regiment
Tbn= Tank battalion
CTBn = Chemical (Flamer) Tank Bn.
ACBn = Armored Car Battalion

 

Ranks

kombrig = Brigade Commander (equal to Brig. Gen.)
komdiv = Division Commander (equal to Maj.Gen.)
komkor = Korps Commander (equal to Lieut.Gen.)
komandarm 2 ranga = Army Commander 2nd Class (equal to Colonel General)
komandarm 1 ranga = Army Commander 1st Class(equal to Army General)
Marshal Sovetskogo Sojuza = Marshal of the Soviet Union

korpusnoy komissar = Corps Commissar
