The permanent (concrete) fortifications

in the Karelian Isthmus

Fall 1939

sectors with concrete bunkers in Fall 1939
The Isthmus is divided into small sectors (those little blue bars), and the exact number and type of fortifications are listed in the table below. The thin black line follows roughly the "Mannerheim Line".
(There are some shortcuts to the data on the most important sectors, just click the map!)

The first number means a bunker / shelter build in the 20's.
The second number means a bunker / shelter build in the 20's, but repaired / improved in the 30's.
The third number means a bunker build in the 30's.

i.e. 0+1+2 = one bunker had been built in the 1920s but it was either repaired or improved in the 1930s, in addition, two new bunkers were built in this sector during the 1930s.
